Thank You! We would like to say a big thank you to Hoover Case. He has been our auctioneer since 1988. He quickly became an important part of our marketing team and we never considered using anyone else. We are sorry to inform our valuable customers that this will be Hoover’s last Alabama Connec- tion Sale. He is getting like many of us – a little long in the tooth. There is a time in all our lives when we must start thinking about slowing down and giving ourselves time to smell the roses. Hoover quickly became our dear friend. He also became a friend to many of our loyal customers

In Remembrance of Vernon Lane, City View Farms

We are very sad to lose another charter member of the Alabama Connection group, Mr. Vernon Lane of City View Farms. In spring 1988, a group of breeders decided to start a sale. Vernon said, let’s make it an event, not just another cow sale. Howard Tinney said, let’s attract breeders from across the country. Delmo said, the only way we can make this sale last is to sell only our very best. Red Etheridge came up with the name “Alabama Connection Sale,” and Charles Sandlin said, let’s

commit to making this a yearly event. Basically, these five requests made from the group that night became our mission state- ment: be an event, attract all breeders, only sell our best, commit to the long term, and the Alabama Connection was born! Vernon Lane became known as our chef! He always wanted to make sure our food had quality and quantity. He always said a cowman’s heart starts in his stomach. Fill him up and he will be back. He combined food, fun and fellowship, making it a family affair. We have always included the entire family and we continue those ideals today at the Alabama Connection Sale. The loss of Vernon has left a hole in all our hearts that will last the rest of our lives.
