Either by new, stabilized, purebred Santa Gertrudis from fellow breeders or by injecting new genetics from other qualifying breeds. Following the correct procedures of the SGBI grading-up program and registering the other breed sire in the SGBI properly, Quail Valley used one of the top Akaushi marbling bulls in the world with Heartbrand Joe S5394S. With that said, Heartbrand Joe comes into the SGBI data set at breed average, lowering the rankings of his calves. As his calves and their progeny have data turned in, the EPDs should reflect a more accurate comparison. With that said, he is known for his extreme marbling and the traits should have passed on to his progeny, allowing breeders to grade up to tremendous, high-quality beef animals. Sells AI’d to KR651/18 (CHOSEN ONE) (Reg. #20183702) on 6/16/2022, then exposed to SR MARKSMAN 33/19 (Reg. #20190165) and SR PARADIGM 135/7 (Reg. #20175656) from 6/20/22 to 8/15/22.
