H appy fall, y’all! We have some big plans coming for the Barzona Breeders Association of America (BBAA), so stay tuned and, better yet, get involved! First and foremost, we have four pens reserved for the feed efficiency test in January 2024. We will have access to the feed tests for the next year, so if you want to participate through January 2025, please let us know! Vaccination require ments are listed on the website, and the more cattle we have tested, the lower the fees per head will be. Second, we are asking everyone to kick in ideas for five year, 10-year and 20-year goals for the BBAA. Some submitted goals include making the feed test free to members, increasing memberships by 50 to 100 percent, increasing registration numbers by those amounts, and building up our capital. Email, message, text or call me to add your visions to our list! Action has already been taken on building the capital fund. Members voted this year to have each producing herd send in one cull cow’s value to the association; the goal is $1,000 per herd. This is going to be implemented for one year and revoted on at each annual meeting. This fund is intended to pay for feed efficiency testing, developing member benefits, associa tion promotion materials and more.
