CHAIN RANCH Newley Hutchison (405) 669-1435 (office), (580) 886-5085 (cell) Mike Marshall (620) 886-2144 · www.chainranch.com · Charlie Spencer (308) 224-4367 ROUNDUP R ed D irt Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022 Sale at 1:00 p.m. · Lunch at Noon At the Ranch · Canton, Okla. One of the largest offerings of Red Angus and Red Angus-influenced cattle to sell this year!

Welcome! Once again it is my pleasure to welcome you to the annual Red Dirt Roundup Sale. On behalf of my family, we want to sincerely thank you for your interest in our program. The females we are offering are from the heart of both our commercial and registered programs. The commercial cow is the engine behind our program. Efficiency, fertility and longevity in harsh environments is a must. We retain ownership in our calves to the rail, selling pounds of red meat. Chain Ranch’s 2021 calf crop graded 95% high Choice and Prime. The females offered in the sale all have these genetic traits that are backed by more than 125 years of breeding and real-world feedyard and carcass data. The consigners have brought you some outstanding females as well. Their programs highlight the versatility of Red Angus genetics in various crossbreeding programs. It takes a host of people to pull these sales off. We have a crew of guys and gals on the ranch that I would put up against anyone. They are like family to Mandy and me, and we just want to want to say thank you for everything you all do. We also want to thank our good friends Kyle and Lisa Gilchrist; Dr. Jeremy and Katie Schneider; Justin and Alayna Huber; Dr. Todd Stone; Cross County Genetics; Dale Moore, Cattleman’s Choice Feedyard; and DV Auction. Finally, and most important, we want to thank our Creator for uncountable blessings. “It’s all on loan from God and we’re just here, taken’ care of it.” – Ralph Chain Once again, we welcome you to come and eat, explore our ranching history and heritage, and spend the after noon in beautiful northwest Oklahoma.

Thank you for your interest, Newley Hutchison and The Chain Ranch Family

Mr Chain Deep 1158 “Billy Bob” has been a standout since he was a calf. We have had much success with his sire, Weber Rolling Deep 615. 615 was the lead-off bull in Jessie Weber’s 2016 NWSS Champion pen of Red Angus bulls. We are using multiple sons out of him in our commercial program. They are big footed, super sound and hold up in “real-world” environments. The calves feed well and hang well too. The females are outstanding mothers and look like they are going to have great longevity. The phenotype in his prodigy is outstanding as well. Newt wanted to show a “big” bull his senior year and this calf seemed to fit the bill. We showed Billy Bob last year at Fort Worth where he was Division Champion Bull Calf. We also showed him at the Oklahoma State Fair where he was Res. Champion Red Angus Bull this past month. (See page 14 for more photos.) Our plans are to take him to Congress in Oklahoma City and then to Fort Worth again this winter. This calf is going to make someone a great herd sire that will throw calves with stellar phenotype and put pounds on the scale. If you need a bull this spring and want to have a little fun with one before you turn him out, here he is. We are selling 50% semen rights and full possession in spring of 2023.

Choice of Chain Ranch Pen of Heifers

This is our pen of heifers we are taking to Congress and Denver. We are offer ing choice of one of these females and possession after OYE this spring. The sire of this pen needs no introduction. MIMI E381 W085. He was 2019 Champion Bull at the NILE, Iowa State Fair, Minnesota State Fair and the National Western Stock show in Den ver. We have used him extensively in both our commercial and registered programs. The females out of this bull are outstanding. His calves grow and grade well. The only problem is, he went sterile and semen is no longer available, so his genetics are limited. The dam, 93CH 5183, has produced some purple herself. She produced the National Western Stock Show Champion Percentage Aberdeen in 2018 and Champion Aberdeen at OYE in 2018. She has produced more than $35,000 in bull sales for us and has multiple sons in our commercial program producing pounds of red meat. All four heifers are bred to registered halfblood Red Aberdeen bulls due in April. Have fun picking out your favorite!

DUFF RED BOX 55C 19106 Sire of Lots 3, 7 & 11

If you are looking for a true “donor” prospect, 2163 checks a lot of boxes. We bought her sire in Duff’s 2019 spring sale. DUFF Red Box 55C 19106 is a black-hided outcross son of Duff Napoleon 232 and GT Cita 4060. Cita was very possibly one of the highest dollar producing females in the Red Angus breed! Her dam, 93CH MS Chain 5157, is daughter of LJC Mission Statement. She is a “power cow” for Chain Ranch that has landed multiple bulls in the sale pen and has an MPPA of 101. This heifer has 7 EPDs in the Top 30% of the breed. She is big middled, sleek fronted and super sound.

2123 has been a favorite and arguably the pick of the group. She is a paternal sister to the Lot 1 bull. On the bottom side, she goes back to the DAMAR Star 365W donor cow. This cow was one the most prominent and successful lines in the Cloud 9 and Damar programs. She has produced multiple champion and reserve champion females for both programs. She commanded $15,000 in the C9CC dispersal. This heifer also traces back to the great Mission Nexus bull. She is cool front ed with a big hip. Going to have a lot of hair but needs to go to an experienced showman.

We have invited neighbor Chris Craighead, owner of Dead End Ranch, to consign this year and they have brought some cool Charolais-cross females to the lineup. Justin and Alayna Huber with Dead End Ranch stepped in this year and helped with all the haltered heifers and have done a great job with them. Lot 5, “Minnie” 1521, is a Feb.-born Jockey daughter out of a Dameron First in Class dam. Minnie is going to make a gorgeous cow after her show career. She is long necked, deep ribbed, long hipped and just made good from the ground up. She will excel in all facets of production. 5 “MINNIE” 1521 Open Charolais Composite Heifer Dead End Ranch Reg. #Pending | DOB: 3/17/2022 Lot

2130 is another one of those “box checkers.” Her dam, Jeffries Lana D146, was purchased by Brock Hutchison and Will Guthrie when they were in the height of their show careers. The formed a partnership, “Northwest Genetics.” The Lana female was the pick of all of Jerry Jeffries’ females in 2017 and has been a super producing female for them. 2130’s sire goes back to the Six Mile Game Face bull. We purchased Home boy H1 from L83 Ranch for $15,000 in the 2021 Red Revolution Sale in Oklahoma City. These are some of the first calves out of him and he has not disappointed! He was one of the heaviest muscled Red Angus calves I had ever seen. This heifer calf lands 5 EPDs in the Top 30% of the breed to boot. Baby doll gentle.

Lot 6

Here is another calf out of the Duff Red Box 55C 19106 sire. This one is black but, in my opinion, is one of the best heifers in the group. There was a lot of debate on selling this one. Her dam, JDW Pauline 68Z, goes back to the “old school” Joe Wagner program. This cow family is rugged and adaptive to the northwest Oklahoma environment. She puts 5 EPDs in the Top 30% of the breed. If you’re looking to add some outcross, phenotype and power to your program, this female will do it!

Dead End Ranch brings you Lot 9, Lola 1914. She is out of a Firewater son and a Yellowjacket x Damreron’s First in Class daughter. She com bines a long neck with a big top and great depth of rib. She has the power to excel in the show ring and still make a great cow. Super stylish with a killer look.

Lot 9

Lot 10 – 2164 – is another black-hided Duff Red Box 55C 19106 daughter. This heifer lands 6 EPDs in the Top 30% of the breed. She is made like you like one to be made. She is from the Cop per cow family and goes back to a female we pur chased from Jessie Weber, WEBR Copper 1144. This cow has made a tremendous impact on our program. We have several outstanding females that trace back to this cow. They are power-bull makers. Another one I don’t really want to let go.

2170 traces back to a Wagoner female, S182, that was in our donor pen a few years back. When mated to LJC Mission Statement, you had power, growth and maternal. Our commercial program has had a huge impact by this mating. It’s “real world” genetics with phenotype. Adding Duff Red Box 55C 19106 to the equation looks like a great mating. 2170 puts 7 EPDs in the top 30% of the breed and she is already red! Potential outcross donor and you can show her!

Lot 11

Here is another Rolling Deep 615 daughter. She is a little green compared to the other heifers, but give her some time. Her dam is a daughter of WR MS Betty 640. MS Betty came out of the Weidenbach program and produced us a national champion banner with a pen of open heifers at Denver. She also produced J6 a female that was Champion Red Angus Female at Louisville. She has all the pieces!

1616 “BUNNY” Open Charolais Composite Heifer Dead End Ranch Reg. #Pending | DOB: 3/1/2022

1616 “Bunny” is another fancy Char x Dead End Ranch has brought. She is out of a Troubadour Angus-cross cow and a Resource son. She is super gentle and would be suited for a first-time showman. This heifer combines a powerful/femi nine look. Big topped, thick and plenty of rib. She is long and clean fronted, packs a punch from the ground up. She will make some steers when she is finished showing.

Lot 13

Here is a heifer that goes back to the Saint Jo Land & Cattle program. The R02T female was acquired in an embryo trade we did with Tony and Carla Clark some years back. The RO2T cow lines are big powerful females. They constantly put bulls in our sale pen and on our commercial cows. Homeboy H1 only added more muscle to this breeding.

2110 is by far the greenest heifer in the sale. I think she is the sleeper. She is a little younger but has all the right pieces. She goes back to the old Ole’s Oscar bull. We used this bull for calving ease years back, but his females really had a look to them, and we ended up with quite a few daughters that have made great cows. With Homeboy’s added muscle, it will be fun to watch this one grow out. I don’t think she will disappoint.
