When the cowboys were clipping the heads and tails on these two heifers, they said repeatedly, “Those are some darn good heifers.” (They didn’t actually say “darn” but it was close to that word.) The I03 heifer ranks in the Top 25% for ProS and Top 17% of the breed RAAA breed indexes. Perhaps most important, she descends from the highly respected Sierra cow family at Beckton Red Angus. This heifer will make a very good brood cow for years to come. The I08 heifer has an EPD profile that is very well balanced – no extremes. She is very eye appealing, structurally correct and has a phenotype that everyone will appreciate. She sure looks good in her photo. The dam of this heifer comes from the very well respected 5L Red Angus program and, for many, that is simply good enough. Both of these heifers were pulled out of open pasture to go into this sale. The transition from wide open country was a little bit of a culture shock when we moved them into a smaller setting with other heifers under development. They were handled a little more than usual and were a little excitable but have settled down tremendously. With that said, expect them to continue needing a little TLC as they further develop in your pastures.
