Jessica moved from Houston to Jewett in the first grade, and her parents, Tom and Debbie DuBois, obtained a Santa Gertrudis cow herd and started DuBois Cattle Co. The DuBois family has been actively involved as SGBI members, with Tom also serving on the SGBI board. This is where Jessica went head-first into showing cattle. “We spent a lot of time watching others show,” Jessica recalls. “The Fuchs family from Brenham, Texas, was domi- nating the show world at the time, and they took my family

Once in high school, Jessica and her sister, Renee, were attending more than 80 shows a year and were involved in the Texas Club Calf Association show circuit. Their parents were their supporters, getting them up early and taking them to shows every weekend. Together throughout their show career, the DuBois family accomplished countless national championships as well as championships at all of the major shows in Texas. Jessica is especially proud that during their time, she was the only junior member to also win the national showmanship competition in all three divisions.
