annually, the national Santa Gertrudis Youth Foundation awards approximately $30,000 in scholarships to high school seniors. deserving youth vie for scholarships, and are recognized for their accomplishments at junior nationals.

month and junior members come together to compete in purebred and Star 5 divisions, and leadership contests like public speaking, cattle judging, photography and more. annually, Santa Gertrudis breeders donate one heifer to the exhibitor of each class winner in the purebred show, and donate a heifer to the winner of the Star 5 show. at the next year’s junior nationals, the donated heifers compete for their own championship. the week-long event ends with a formal awards banquet.
