The elite embryo sale was organized to raise funds for future research and educa tional opportunities for the breed. The foundation would like to thank the following donors for consigning to this first-time event: Briggs Ranches, Victoria, Texas; Cherokee Ranch, Sedalia, Colo.; DP Cattle Company LLC, Hamilton, Ala.; Harris Farms, Cleburne, Texas; Hefte Ranch, Hondo, Texas; KT Cattle, Hondo, Texas; Mattingly Farms, Brandenburg, Ky., Strait Ranches, Streetman, Texas; Tinney Farms, Hanceville, Ala.; and Wendt Ranches Partners LLC, Bay City, Texas. The funds raised through the Santa Gertrudis Founda tion will allow our breed to participate in university-based research projects throughout the United States. The high-selling lot, four sexed embryos by Red Doc ET Todo 9561 x SR 94/18, was donated by Hefte Ranch and was purchased by Robert Honza, Ennis, Texas. I call this breed a family, our show family, because that’s truly what it is to me. Growing up so close to this organiza tion and its members, I have learned that it truly is a family atmosphere that you don’t understand until you are sur rounded by it. The Santa Gertrudis breed will always have a special place in my heart, and I thank the members of the association for that.
