DAVID ALDERSON Williamsport, Tenn.

Special Election Results

David Harold Alderson, 76, a longtime resident of the Water Valley community, passed away June 14. Born July 24, 1947, in Columbia, Tenn., David was the son of the late Paul E. Alderson

and the late Madge D. Alderson. He graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1965 and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam era. On June 22, 1968, David married the love of his life, Elaine Maxwell. Together, they built a life filled with love, family and dedication to their community. David had a distinguished career at Union Carbide Company from which he retired, all while managing his farm where he was raised. He was passionate about rais ing Santa Gertrudis cattle and became well-known for fitting and showing across the southeast United States. His dedication to Santa Gertrudis Breeders International (SGBI) was evident through his nine years on the board of directors and his involvement in various committees over the past 20 years. His farm, Circle A, was celebrated as SGBI Breeder and Exhibitor of the Year five times, and he proudly showed 12 National Champions and bred three National Champions. A man of deep faith, David was a member of the former United Methodist Church. He was also an active member of the Santa Fe Masonic Lodge. His legacy of kindness, hard work and community ser vice will be remembered by all who knew him. David’s legacy lives on through his son, Anthony Paul Alderson; his brother, Norris (Susan) Alderson; his grand children, Kaitlin (Zack) McPeak and Jasmine Craig; and his great-grandchildren, Brighten and Baylor McPeak. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Gary (Dianne) Maxwell, Bootie (Cathy) Maxwell, Randy (Beverly) Max well and Tracy (Kim) Maxwell; along with numerous niec es, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Correction – SGBI Bull of the Year At the Annual Meeting and in the June/July issue of San ta Gertrudis Source , the ownership of the 2023 Bull of the Year was announced incorrectly. The bull is jointly owned by Wiley Ranch and Brent Smith, Plainview Farms. We apologize for this error. Congratulations to Wiley Ranch and Plainview Farms for receiving this award.
