JUNIOR VOICES • By Caden Tyson, At-Large Director

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE NJSGS? Hi, my name is Caden Ty son, and I currently serve as a National Junior Santa Gertrudis Association (NJSGA) at-large director. More than likely you have heard me say those words many, many times. What you may not know is that saying those words is one of my favorite parts of any national show. Being director has been one of the highlights of my life, and I owe it mainly to one person, my sister. All throughout my show career my sister has been one of my biggest driving forces. She has encouraged me to be my best. Whether she inspired me through a speech or fussed at me about how terrible I did, when it came down to it, she was always there for me. My sister served two years on the NJSGA Board, and I had so much fun traveling to cattle sales and watching the National Santa Gertrudis Open Show, that when it came time for me to run for a seat on the board, I des perately wanted to be a part of it. From filling out the ap plication, to helping me set up my campaign booth and always lending support, she was there every step of the way. Through all of these things, I learned patience, per severance and many other characteristics that are im portant to being a director. Thanks, Anna! Q: A: Foster and I’m currently serving as a National Junior Santa Gertrudis Association (NJSGA) di rector, secretary and queen. I participate in a lot of differ ent clubs and organizations, but I can say with full confi dence that NJSGA has made me the most successful in my endeavors. There is always a place for everyone. Whether you’re better at sales talk, livestock judging, public speak ing or even photography, everyone has something to par ticipate in! When I first started showing cattle eight years ago and was participating in my first nationals, my mother signed me up for every competition she possibly could. This didn’t mean that I succeeded in everything, but I did find things that I was good at, particularly sales talk, which is where I found my passion for genetics and marketing. These competitions are geared to help juniors find their passions and, in some cases, future careers. I will always encourage people to try new competitions and new teams that you wouldn’t normally try because you’ll never know what you’re good at! If you have any questions about any competitions, I would be happy to answer them! Q: A: JUNIOR VOICES • By Gracyn Foster, At-Large Director WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE NJSGS? Hey ya’ll!
