Jennifer Houston, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) Tennessee native Jennifer Houston is the 2019 NCBA president. She and her husband, Mark, own and operate East Tennessee Livestock Center in Sweetwater, Tenn. Houston has been active in the beef industry for more than 30 years. She became a member of the first Tennessee Beef Industry Council in 1986, twice serving as chairman. Her national involvement began as she represented Tennessee on the Beef Industry Council of the National Live Stock and Meat Board. She has been an NCBA board member since 1996, chairing numerous committees. Most recently, Jennifer served as chairman of the NCBA Policy Division. She has also served as the chairman of the Federation of State Beef Councils where she also served as a member of the Beef Promotion Operating Committee and the Meat Export Federation executive committee. She served as Region II vice-president and was a member of the NCBA executive committee from 1997 to 1999. Houston earned a degree in animal science from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Adolofo V. Sanchez, Red Doc Farm Dr. Adolfo V. Sanchez lives in Bosque, N.M., and farms and ranches with the Sanchez family at Red Doc Farm. Sanchez currently serves as the chairman for the SGBI Research and Education Committee, and has previously served on the SGBI Board of Directors as the vice president for performance and a Rocky Mountain andWestern region representative. He is a graduate of the University of New Mexico with a degree in biology and works along with his father Dr. Roland K. Sanchez as a family medicine physician in Belen, N.M. Sanchez and his wife, Christina, play active roles in the operation of Red Doc Farm. He helped revive the Santa Gertrudis Steer Feedout, and has also worked hard to develop tools that select Santa Gertrudis cattle with marketplace value traits which have helped Santa Gertrudis remain viable in today’s beef industry. Kenny Stauffer, Neogen ® Corporation Kenny Stauffer is director of beef genomic sales at Neogen Corporation. Prior to joining Neogen, Stauffer’s career allowed him to be directly involved with every sector of the beef industry from production, feeding and marketing to his current role in genomics. Most recently he was general manager at Top Dollar Angus, a genetic certification and marketing company. His vision for the company’s brand awareness and program development helped to implement programs such as their Seedstock Partnership and Genetic Partnership programs with some of the industry’s leading seedstock and A.I. companies. Prior to this, Stauffer and his family spent 17 years in western Nebraska managing the Hoot Owl Ranch. While at the ranch, his leadership and innovation helped grow the ranch from a small hobby farm to one of the largest and most progressive operations in Nebraska.

Matthew Garcia, Ph.D., Utah State University

Matthew Garcia, Ph.D., is a beef specialist at Utah State University where he focuses on whole system production considerations and complementary selection practices for the intermountain beef production system. Prior to joining Utah State University, Garcia was a faculty member at Louisiana State University for seven years where his research/teaching program focused on beef cattle genomics. While at LSU, he also managed the beef herds at the LSU Central Research Station. Garcia has a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in animal science from New Mexico State University, a doctorate in beef cattle genomics from Washington State University and an MBA from Portland State University. Ryan Rhoades, Ph.D., is an associate professor and beef Extension specialist at Colorado State University where he is responsible for developing, prioritizing and implementing innovative statewide beef Extension programs based on the needs of Colorado’s beef industry. He has also worked closely with several state and national beef industry organizations to assist with strategic planning and the development of producer training tools. Previously, Rhoades spent six years as a faculty member at the King Ranch® Institute for Ranch Management in Kingsville, Texas. Rhoades and his family own and operate a small direct-to-consumer beef business, Elevation Beef. Rhoades received his doctorate in beef cattle production at Texas A&M University. John Genho, Neogen ® Corporation John Genho is senior director of technical services at Neogen Corporation where he specializes in genetic evaluation of beef cattle. His current customers include the majority of Bos indicus -influenced breeds in the United States, as well as many large commercial cattle ranches and international groups. In addition, Genho currently manages a 1,000-head cow herd in Virginia. He has a bachelor’s degree in animal science from BrighamYoung University, a master’s degree in animal breeding and genetics with a minor in biometrics and statistics from Cornell University and an MBA from Duke University.
