AMERICAN ABERDEEN ASSOCIATION ® PO Box 850, Big Horn, WY 82833 (303) 840-4343 info@americanaberdeen.com www.americanaberdeen.com BOARD OF DIRECTORS President CRAIG WALKER • W Diamond Livestock Co. 1601 Springfield Rd. • Roswell, NM 88201 (575) 626-7444 wdiamondlivestock@gmail.com www.wdiamondlowlines.com Vice President
PRESIDENT ’S COLUMN CRAIG WALKER, DVM G reetings. I hope you have had a productive, prosperous year, regardless of the state of our world. As I write, the Feds just hiked interest rates 75 basis points. With the state of our economy and the widespread drought, I am convinced now more than ever that American Aberdeen cattle are right for the times. Maximizing individual cow size doesn’t pencil in a world of rapidly rising input costs or for those stricken by the drought. The ability to perform on grass, heavy muscling and low-input production sys tems is driving discussions across the United States. Our time is now! We are the right size for profitability, we are efficient and we are sustainable. As an American Aberdeen Association ® Board member and a breeder, I am excited because we are the only breed that can offer a solution in these trying times. The door is as wide open as it will ever be. I encourage each breeder to get out and talk to other cattlemen in your region. Let’s make lemonade out of the world of lemons that is surrounding us. TL
